The Seaside School Half Marathon & 5K and all of the events that lead up to it are a treat for all of the senses. The views of the white-sand beaches and turquoise water of the Gulf of Mexico, the aroma of the culinary masterpieces served up at Taste of the Race, the burning in your legs at the finish line and the taste of a cold drink from Grayton Beer Company to celebrate your accomplishment are just some of the sensations that will be etched in your memory long after race weekend comes to an end. The sounds of the weekend’s festivities are sure to leave a mark of their own!

Bucktown All-Stars will take the stage at Taste of the Race on Friday night… limited tickets still available! This New Orleans-based, brass-driven party band has been entertaining crowds since 1992 and will provide the perfect accompaniment to the culinary sampling at race weekend’s official kick-off event.

Anyone who has been to Race Expo on the day before the race knows that this is no ordinary packet pickup event. In addition to vendors selling race gear, local art and souvenirs the event’s silent auction items will be on full display and available for bidding. Live music performed by the band of the Seaside Neighborhood School will entertain runners as they pick up their race essentials. The music program at the Seaside Neighborhood School does not produce your standard school band and this is a performance not to be missed.

Race day itself starts early and the energy around Seaside remains high all day! The din of the runners and the gathered crowd intensifies as the start of the race approaches before all goes quite for the National Anthem. Cheering crowds energize runners all along the race route. Back in Seaside, music plays and crowds mingle as runners cross the finish line and gather in the amphitheater for the awards ceremonies.

At some point during the weekend, be sure to make a point of putting your feet in the sand to take in the sound of the gentle waves lapping up on the beach, one of the many sounds that are distinctly unique to the Seaside School Half Marathon & 5K. Race weekend is so close, you can almost hear it!
