While many of the traditions that long-time race participants have come to count on year after year at the Seaside School Half Marathon & 5K remain constant, this year’s half marathon will deliver new experience that racers are sure to enjoy.  The 2022 Seaside Half Marathon will start and finish in the heart of Seaside as it has for the past 19 years. This time, however, runners will at first head east, rather than the traditional westward start to the flat, fast, out-and-back course.

For the first time ever, the race route will traverse through neighboring Seagrove Beach before reaching its turnaround point near Watersound Beach. Runners will cross over Eastern Lake, Deer Lake and Camp Creek Lake – three of South Walton’s rare coastal dune lakes. Deer Lake State Park, quaint and historic beach neighborhoods and, of course, the Gulf of Mexico will provide the ideal backdrop for the 20th running of the Seaside School Half Marathon.

Over the next several weeks, we will be highlighting some of the most breathtaking and memory-making segments of the route to help you visualize every step of the 13.1 miles as you prepare for this year’s race.
